REDCLIFF, ALBERTA, CANADA REPEALS BSL

On October 26, 2015, we watched as history took place in Redcliff, Alberta, Canada. After a successful delegation and 3 signings the Council of Redcliff, Alberta, Canada made it official and repealed Breed Specific Legislation.  Under the old bylaw, Restricted Dogs were as follows:  Any Dog commonly known as a Pitbull, Pitbull Terrier, American Pitbull Terrier, or Any dog of mixed breed which includes any of the following breeds: Pitbull,Pitbull Terrier,American Pitbull Terrier,Staffordshire Bull Terrier, orAmerican Staffordshire Terrier Effective January 1st, all dogs will be treated equally.  Let us embrace the opportunity to show that responsible dog ownership and breed neutral...

I often get questioned with respect to what Breed Specific Legislation is, or where it is. I think the very first point that we must focus on is the forms of Breed Specific Legislation.   Breed Specific Legislation is more than a ban.
